The Park and Recreation Commission held a meeting on Tuesday September 15, 2009 at 6:45 P.M. at the Park, Recreation and Community Center located on Broad Street.

Laura Swanson made a motion to approve the August minutes.  Pat Curtin seconded.

Dan Shuman presented the Commission with a check for $250 for the Common Fund which was raised at the Bike Race beer tent.


MET Tower – 50 meters tall, guide wires, anchors to be installed at Winter Island.  Wind Turbans discussion.  
James Shea made a motion to approve the MET Tower proposal in contingent with the City Solicitor’s final approval, with fencing around the guide wires for safety concerns are the first priority.  All liabilities are written in the contract, and the company is to come back to the Commission in six months to report how it is all going on site #1.  Laura Swanson seconded.

Peter Gifford – regarding Boat Storage at Winter Island
Pat Curtin made a motion to approve the boat yard storage at Winter Island, to store the boats on jacks, until March 2010 with no repairs being done.  Laura Swanson seconded.

William Hanger – Winter Island manager would like a revolving fund to manage the camp store.  
Laura Swanson made a motion to have William Hanger discuss a revolving fund for the Winter Island store with the Finance Director, James Shea seconded.

Rinus Oosthock – Hawthorne Blvd. For Haunted Biz Baz weekend.
Laura Swanson made a motion to approve the request for the strip on Hawthorne Blvd. for the October 11, 12th weekend.  Amy Everitt seconded.

Chris Burke will write a letter to the Mayor to request security cameras at the Willows.

Pat Curtin made a motion to approve a No Trespassing/ Police take notice sign at the Willows with hours of operation on it.  
April 1 – October 31 Park closes at 11:00 p.m. November 1 – April 30 Park closes at 9:00 p.m. Laura Swanson seconded.

NEW BUSINESS
Councilor McCarthy is looking into the security at the Willows.  Councilor also noted that the Willows (half moon) sign at the entrance of the Park is falling apart and needs repairs.

OLD BUSINESS
Mack Park build went great, lots of help.

The next Park and Recreation Commission meeting will be held on Tuesday October 20, 2009, at the Park and Recreation Community Center located on Broad Street.
